There is a difference of opinion between
some pediatricians as to the safety of
swimming lessons. Many say that you should
not teach children under the age of 4 years
old. What are we to believe?
This has been a constant bone of contention between
the pediatricians and The united States Swim School
Association. Obviously, everyone wants what is best
for their child. The plain facts are that children
under the age of 2 can be taught to survive. Our video
is proof of that. As long as children are registered
with a good reputable swim school with teachers who
are experienced and know what they are doing, babies
from 3 months of age are completely safe having swimming
lessons. Of course swimming lessons should never take
the place of constant supervision by a parent while
around the water. I would add, that a large percentage
of our customers are highly recommended to us by pediatricians.

Should I start lessons in the summer when I can practice?
The earlier in the year you start, the safer your
child will become. Remember, it does
take time to learn. Year round lessons will ensure
that the skills learnt during the warmer months are
maintained.
6. Does my child need to swim between lessons to
be able to learn?
No! Whilst it always helps to re-enforce skills,
a child will still learn on a weekly basis, and
should still take lessons if no practice pool
is available to you.
7.
Will my child forget if we stop for the winter?
Yes, most definitely, children under the age of 6 do
forget. You need to keep your child in swimming lessons
all year round to maintain the safety skills. Remember,
pools, lakes and canal go COLD in the winter, they
do not go away. Danger is ever present.
